|Thomas Blackett Stephens was one of the first persons to purchase land in the area.|
|Stephens established businesses, with interests in farming, wool scouring and fellmongery. His agricultural venture went on to become the largest within the district. Later, he became a Mayor of Brisbane’s Municipal Council.|
|The Junction Hotel opened its doors on the corner of Ipswich Road and Boggo Road. (The latter is the present-day Annerley Road). Shops and services bagan to line the Ipswich Road to cater for the surrounding area.|
